COUSIN’S CAREER HIGH NOT ENOUGH TO OVERCOME LONGWOOD RALLY

GAME INFORMATION
-  Score: Longwood 92, Radford 81

-  Location: Dedmon Center (Radford, Va.)

RADFORD, Va. – Justin Cousin erupted for a career-high 24 points, but Longwood used a furious second-half comeback to upend Radford, 92-81, Saturday evening in Big South men's basketball action as part of Senior Day inside the Dedmon Center.

The Highlanders looked poised to run away with this game, extending their 45-37 halftime advantage to 20 (59-39) just five minutes into the second stanza. They connected on six of their first eight attempts out of intermission.

Trailing by 15 (66-51), the Lancers made their move by embarking on a 22-5 run, capped by a Tra'vaughn White 3-pointer, which put the visitors in front for the first time with six minutes to go in regulation.

RU captured its final lead off Cousin's seventh and final 3-pointer, which made it 79-77 in favor of the Highlanders. Longwood closed the contest on a 15-2 run.

Behind a 7 for 13 performance from beyond the arc, Cousin doubled his previous career high in points. His seven 3-pointers were the most by a Highlander in a single game this season. Led by Cousin's efforts, Radford drilled 13 from long range in its regular-season finale.

Fellow backcourt mates Cameron Jones and Rashun Davis joined Cousin in double-figure scoring with 18 and 12, respectively. Davis dished out eight of the Highlanders' 18 assists.

A trio of Lancers netted at least 20 points, led by Lotanna Nwogbo's career-high 29. Shaquille Johnson and White contributed 21 and 20, respectively. On the strength of its 65.5 percent shooting in the second half, Longwood finished at 51.6 percent for the game.

No. 7 seed Radford will face No. 10 seed Presbyterian in Thursday's first round of the 2016 Big South Men's Basketball Championship. The Blue Hose edged RU, 69-68, in the two teams' lone meeting this season.

QUOTABLE
"Give credit to Longwood. They fought, they wanted it and they were very aggressive. We have to put the regular season behind us. The non-conference is one season. The conference schedule is another. Now, we enter our third season—the postseason. This is what it all comes down to—how well can we play in March and in the conference tournament next week." ~ Radford head coach, Mike Jones
