HIGH POINT, N.C. – Radford was unable to avoid being swept in Big South road action for the first time since 2012 as the Highlanders dropped a 7-0 decision to High Point in Mother's Day action at Williard Stadium.

Radford wasted little time getting on High Point starter Andrew Gottfried as Chris Coia led off the game with a first pitch single to center field. Shane Johnsonbaugh followed with an eight-pitch walk, putting the first two RU batters on base. The Highlanders were unable to score following two pop outs and a fly out to end the inning.

Zach Duff collected a two-out double in the second, but was stranded on a Luke Wise strikeout that saw eight pitches.

High Point got on the board with a leadoff home run to left field by Dominic Fazio. Hunter Lee singled later in the inning, but Radford starter Tyler Swarmer forced a double play ball to get the Highlanders out of the frame.

The top of the fourth saw Kyle Butler line a double into left-center, but was stranded after Colby Higgerson flied out and Matt Roth popped out.

Fazio struck again in the bottom half of the fourth launching his second home run of the contest, this time a two-run blast, giving the Panthers a 3-0 lead.

High Point added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a Fazio RBI single and Lee sacrifice fly. The Panthers added its sixth run in the seventh on a wild pitch and a seventh run in the eighth on another Lee sac fly, cruising to a 7-0 series sweeping victory.

Radford returns to action on Wednesday for an in-state 6 p.m. clash with VMI. The matchup will be the Highlanders third Wednesday game of the season, going 1-1 on hump day contests.
