RADFORD, Va. – Sivert Daehlie extended his scoring streak to eight straight with a late second half goal as Radford's seven-match unbeaten streak came to an end with a 2-1 loss Saturday night to Big South rival High Point.

In the matchup between Big South Preseason No. 1 vs. No. 2, the Panthers dominated the first half, while the Highlanders controlled the second half.

On its first shot of the match, High Point took an early 1-0 lead as Ebe Kudolo fired an attempt from 30-yards out on the near side, bending the ball past Nicolas Mertzokat to the top right corner for his first goal on the season.

The Panthers padded their early lead in the 18th minute after a Ryan Inman corner kick was cleared by the Highlanders' backline. The cleared ball went straight to the foot of Justen Shear, who fired a shot into the top right corner from just in front of the middle of the six-yard box.

After taking a shot on goal four minutes into the match, Sivert Daehlie was fouled off a cross into box from Michael Walsh in the 29th minute, giving Radford a chance to cut into the 2-0 deficit.

Already 2 for 2 on penalty kicks for the season, Kieran Roberts lined up to take the shot. Roberts beat Keegan Meyer high, but the attempt banged off the top of the crossbar. The Highlanders regained possession of the ball, but was unable to take another attempt.

Radford received another chance in the 34th minute as Evan Szklennik fired another cross into the box for Daehlie. The header attempt ended up in the hands of Meyer for one of his three saves in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half saw the Highlander defense hold the High Point attack to one shot in the second half as Radford finished with a 12-6 shot advantage with seven attempts on frame.

In the 65th minute, Jakob Strandsäter sent a strong ball from midfield to a running Roberts to the far side of the box as another header attempt missed just wide, hitting the side of the net. Roberts finished with three shots and two on goal.

Radford earned six corners in the second half, finding the back of the net on its sixth attempt. The Highlanders earned a corner kick after Daehlie's first header attempt was corralled by Meyer. Colmer sent a strong ball into the box as Daehlie put his head on it to the low left post for his ninth goal of 2017 in the 83rd minute.

Radford took four of its seven attempts on goal in the second half, but was only able to shake Meyer between the pipes for one goal.
