BLACKSBURG, Va. - Running at the Hokie Open, a meet hosted by Virginia Tech and scheduled in between the Big South Championships and the NCAA Southeast Regionals, three men's runners represented the Radford cross country team on Friday afternoon.
Making his season debut as an unattached runner, freshman Jacob Stewart placed 18th out of 38 with a time of 21:40.9.
Joe Spriggs donned the Highlander uniform for the first time since Sept. 29th and crossed the finish line with a time of 22:25.7, good for 21st.
"I was happy to see Joe compete within the top five runners of a conference foe in Longwood," said Head Coach Eric Thatcher. "He has had a couple of setbacks this fall, but he's worked hard through them and deserved to finish the season with a positive result."
Redshirt junior Kyle Hetrick also ran unattached and rounded out the group with a 23rd-place finish, crossing the finish line in 23:26.7.
Coach Thatcher will take his top six men and women finishers from the Big South Championships to the University of Virginia's Panorama Farms on Friday, Nov. 10th to race in the NCAA Southeast Regionals.
