RADFORD, Va.Emma Rogers and Callie Bonnel scored nine of the Highlander's 13 goals, but it was not enough as Radford fell to Mount St. Mary's, 23-13, on Saturday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium.
 
A seven-goal spurt in less than four minutes by Mount St. Mary's (1-5) erased an early 3-2 Radford (4-5) lead, which made the score 9-3 with 21:49 to play.
 
The Highlanders answered with four of the next five goals – two by Bonnel and one each Rogers and Juliette Ruland – and cut the deficit to three goals, but Emily Davis scored two and Taylor Carhart scored one giving the Mount St. Mary's a 13-7 lead.
 
Bonnel, Lindsey Carroll and Rogers scored a goal each before the end of the half and cut the Mountaineers lead to five-goals, 15-10.
 
The Highlanders were outscored 8-3 in the second half. Rogers scored all three of Radford's goals in the second half.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
•  Radford fired 32 shots and landed 25 on goal with Mount St. Mary's firing off 40 and landing 29 on goal.
•  The Highlanders led in ground balls, 20-19, but only had 17 draw controls to the Mountaineers 20.
•  Emma Rogers totaled a game-high five goals and Bonnel tallied four goals. The two totaled for 69 percent of Radford's scoring.
•  Juliette Ruland, Adrain Rius, Lindsey Carroll and Emily Kowalik had the four other goals for the Highlanders.
•  Carroll led the team with four assists, while Kowalik had two.
•  Rogers and Shea Swingle had five ground balls each and Haley Harris scooped up two. Swingle also led the team with three caused turnovers.
•  Rius had eight of the Highlanders 17 draw controls.
•  Mount St. Mary's recorded 12 saves, while Radford had six.

"We had some major defensive breakdowns today that we hadn't seen all season. Our focus this week will be fixing the errors on defense and getting more production from our attackers." ~ Radford head coach, Haley Marvine.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders return home to begin conference play on Saturday, April 1 and will host Longwood at 2 p.m.
