Location: Cupp Stadium (Radford, Va.)

RADFORD, Va. – On a rainy Saturday morning the Radford women's lacrosse team dropped a close, low-scoring battle to Campbell, 11-9, in the final game at Cupp Stadium this season.

Radford (6-10, 2-5 Big South) started off hot as Juliette Ruland, Callie Bonnel and Emma Rogers scored three early goals taking a 3-0 advantage with 25:51 in the first half. Campbell answered scoring the final five goals of the first half to hold a 5-3 lead at halftime. However, neither team scored for 14:40 of the first half and it was the lowest combined halftime score this season for the Highlanders.

After another Campbell (9-7, 6-1 Big South) goal, a Ruland score sandwiched between two Bonnel goals tied the game at six with 20:56 to play. Melissa Placek reacted, scoring two and Carter Koontz scored one to give the Fighting Camels a 9-6 lead.

Rogers scored her second goal of the game and Lindsey Carroll followed it up with her first goal, which cut the deficit to one goal with 8:02 to play. The Fighting Camels took a shot with 5:40, but Jenny Davis saved it and the Highlanders were on the attack. A costly shot clock violation by the Highlanders gave the possession to Campbell with 3:49 and they took advantage scoring a goal just 11 seconds after the turnover. The score gave the Fighting Camels a 10-8 lead.

On the ensuing possession, Placek won the draw control and took it all the way scoring her third goal of the game. The notch gave Campbell some breathing room, 11-8. Bonnel answered with her game-high fourth goal with 58.5 seconds remaining in the game.

The Highlanders won the next draw control, but a turnover with 44 seconds left in the game clinched the victory for Campbell.
