NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A week removed from collecting their own Big South sweep, Radford was unable avoid its second conference sweep on the season, falling 4-1 to Charleston Southern in the series finale.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, both clubs started slow out of the gate, combing for three hits in the first three innings.

Radford put runners on first and second in the second, third and fourth innings. The Highlanders were unable to push scratch the scoring column, grounding into two double plays and popping out in the scenarios. In the situation, Radford went 0 for 6, failing to advance a base runner in the three frames.

The Buccaneers were able to break into the scoring column in the bottom of the fourth as Jason Miller led off the inning with a single to left field. Miller advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt and moved to third on a ground out.

Miller scored easily from third as Chris Singleton blooped a single into center field. Singleton later swiped second and advanced to third on a ground out for the second out of the inning. Kyle Vesnesky reached base for the fourth time in the series via an error as Spencer Horwitz was unable to scoop a low throw from Danny Hrbek. The errant throw handed Charleston Southern an early 2-0 lead.

Radford put a runner on third base for the first time in the contest as Kyle Butler led off the sixth inning with a single up the middle. Butler stole second base with Hrbek in the batters' box. Fighting off several pitches, Hrbek ground out to second, moving Butler to third base.

Following a strikeout for the second out of the inning, Butler scored on a wild pitch to Horwitz, giving the Highlanders their first run of the game.

Singleton greeted newly entered Radford pitcher Mack Krupp in the sixth inning with a one-out bunt single. Single proceeded to steal second and third base, giving him three steals in the game. Sconzo singled into left-center to get the run back as the Buccaneers pushed the lead back to two runs at 3-1.

After Charleston Southern added their fourth run in the seventh inning on Radford's third error of the game, the Highlanders were pressured with only six outs remaining in the game.

The eighth opened with pinch hitter Cody Schneider getting hit by a pitch and Hrbek earning a one-out walk. For the fourth time on the day, Radford placed runners on first and second with one out. Gonzalez blooped a ball into shallow center field, but Schneider was thrown out at third base by Singleton as he had to wait and see if the ball would drop between the Buccaneer fielders.

Radford was unable to plate a run in the inning as the Buccaneer bullpen continued to dominate like it had all weekend, closing out the 4-1 victory.
