RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team scored the final four goals of the game to make it close late, but it wasn't quite enough as they fell to Robert Morris, 11-15, in the 2018 home opener at Cupp Stadium Friday afternoon.

Meghan Crouse opened the scoring to give the Colonials a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. Juliette Ruland and Lindsey Carroll answered with back-to-back goals however, to give Radford what would turn out to be its only lead of the game.

RMU began to capitalize on several Radford mistakes, allowing them to go on a 4-0 run to take a 5-2 lead with 11:56 left in the first period. Carroll ended the run with a goal at the 10:29 mark, which was followed by Colleen O'Connell's first career goal at 9:29.

Carroll then found the back of the net one more time in the period to tie the game at 5-5 with 5:27 to go, but Crouse snuck one in just before the half ended to give Robert Morris a 6-5 lead heading into the break.

The Colonials carried that momentum into the second half and scored the first six goals of the period, all of which came in the first 10 minutes to make it 5-12.

After failing to get a shot off at Saint Francis, Adrian Rius had a strong day on Friday with two goals and an assist. Her first came at the 16:26 mark to finally put an end to RMU's run and her second came with 12:19 to go in regulation to make it 7-14 after two more Colonial goals.

Another RMU goal pushed their lead back to 7-15, but O'Connell, Carroll, Emma Rogers and Callie Bonnel all scored in a five-minute period to cut the Radford deficit to four.

The Highlanders weren't able to complete the comeback though, as both teams were held scoreless in the final 3-minutes, 46-seconds of the match.

Carroll led Radford with four goals while Kelly Flynn topped all scorers with five for Robert Morris. Carroll, O'Connell, Rius and Jennifer Shield each tallied an assist.

Jenny Davis was big again in goal, making 12 saves while facing a bevy of shots.
