OXFORD, Ala. – Radford was unable to pick up its second series win on the season as the Highlanders split the Saturday doubleheader with Jacksonville State. The Highlanders took game one 9-5, before dropping game two 5-0.

GAME ONE
Jacksonville State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on a pair of two-run home runs.

The Highlanders appeared unfazed as they tallied five runs on four hits in the top of the second. Radford quickly loaded the bases as Colby Higgerson led off the inning with a single, while Straton Podaras reached on a hit by pitch and Luke Belanger via his first collegiate hit on a single to left-center.

Luke Wise put the Highlanders on the board with a single to right field and Carlin Christian followed with a sacrifice fly to right, closing the gap to 4-2.

Following an Adam Whitacre walk, Kyle Butler grounded into a fielders' choice to score Belanger, who tagged up on the Christian sac fly. A throwing error by the Gamecock second basemen on the attempted double play allowed Wise to score from second base, knotting the game at four.

Radford added one more run to take the lead as one of Andrew Szamski's four hits in the game resulted in a RBI single.

Leading 5-4, Radford added another run in the third on another Jacksonville State throwing error. The Highlanders blew the game open in the fifth on a Butler two-run triple down the left field line, handing Radford a five-run lead.

After nine unanswered runs, Jacksonville State plated a run in the seventh on a bases loaded two-out walk.

Radford totaled double-digit hits for the third time on the season, finishing with 13 as four Highlanders finished with multi-hit games.

Szamski led the team with his second four-hit game on the season as he is 13 for 28 through seven games. Butler followed with a 3 for 6 day with three RBIs, his first multi-RBI game of the season. Rounding out the Highlanders were two-hit days from Belanger and Wise.

Andrew Nardi kept the Highlanders' lead in tact with four innings out of the bullpen as the lefty allowed only one run on three hits to pick up his first win of the year. Trey Alderman closed out the game with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief.

Win: Andrew Nardi (1-1) (4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 2 K)
Loss: Derrick Adams (0-1) (2.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K)

GAME TWO
Jacksonville State's pitching staff combined to throw a no-hitter, limiting the Highlanders to only five base runners. The Gamecocks added another four-run first, highlighted by a two-out two-run double.

Radford's first base runner of the game came in the fifth as Butler reached on a throwing error by the shortstop. Higgerson gave the Highlanders another base runner in the fifth as he reached via another throwing error.

The only inning Radford had two base runners came in the sixth as Wise earned a four-pitch walk with one out and Butler reached for the second time in the game on a hit by pitch.

Gamecock pitchers combined to strikeout 13 Highlanders, issuing only two walks. Starter Colton Pate punched out eight batters in six innings before being relieved due to a high pitch count.

Out of the Radford bullpen, Ryan Bywaters struck out three batters in two innings of relief.
