ECKERT ENTERS RECORD BOOK WITH PHENOMENAL 10K TIME

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - After a two week break following the conclusion of indoor season, the Radford track & field team eased its way into outdoor season with some solid results on Day One of the Coastal Carolina Invitational.

Running her first collegiate 10k, freshman Annsley Eckert took fourth place with a time of 40:09.17. The effort marks the 10th-best finish in program history, knocking Briana Grose's time of 40:22.20 from the 1998 Big South Championships out of the top 10.

Sophomore Anastasia Kramer got the day started with the javelin throw. She placed sixth out of 28 throwers with a toss of 31.96 meters (104'10.5"), the best opening mark of her career.

Two Highlanders set personal records in the long jump as sophomore Kierra Henderson and Tenae Washington got off to strong starts this spring. Henderson placed fifth thanks to a distance of 5.34 meters (17'6.25"), besting the 5.09 meters she posted at the 2017 Big South Championships.

Washington placed seventh in the 22-athlete field with a jump of 5.31 meters (17'5.25") to crush her pervious best of 5.13 meters from the 2017 Winthrop ADIDAS Invitational.

Radford returns to competition tomorrow morning, starting with Kramer who is entered in the shot put at 10:30 am.
