HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Radford (17-12) scored 19 runs off 25 hits in a three game sweep over Winthrop last weekend.
- Talia Douglas was stellar at the plate going 6-for-12 with two doubles and five runs scored.
- Her performance garnered her Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, the first weekly award for any Highlander this season.
- Maggie Rowe stepped up in a big way as she drove in seven runs in the series, thanks in large part to a three-run blast. She now leads the team with 19 RBIs.
- Marissa Gagliano has gotten aboard safely in every game this season and is on a current 29 game reached base streak.
- She is batting .398, which is fifth best in the conference. Douglas is not far behind with the 10th-best average, .352.
- Sofia Tapia is the other Highlander with an above .300 batting average. She's hitting .305 with four home runs and 14 RBIs.
- Kayla Huffman (5-3) had a great weekend against the Eagles pitching nine total innings with a save and a win. She struck out nine batters and didn't allow any walks.
- Abby Morrow (11-7) picked up two wins over the weekend, but allowed three walks. She still ranks fifth in the nation in walks allowed per seven innings with 0.65.
- Radford is looking to pick up its second ACC win this season after its first came against Virginia Tech on Feb. 28 in a 4-0 victory.
- The Highlanders and Cavaliers have won 10 games each when playing in Charlottesville.
- Radford has jumped in the RPI rankings and now sits at 100, which is the third best in the Big South behind Liberty and Longwood.
SCOUTING VIRGINIA
- Virginia enters Tuesday's clash salvaging the final game of its weekend series against North Carolina. The Cavaliers hit three home runs in both games of a Saturday doubleheader, earning a 10-5 win in the series finale.
- Tuesday's contest will wrap up a five game homestand at The Park for Virginia.
- With 36 home runs on the season, the 2018 Cavaliers already rank fifth in program history in the category.
- Leading the way in that group is Allison Davis with nine home runs. She also leads with a .383 batting average, 44 hits and 33 RBIs.
- Two-way player Erika Osherow hit .571 this past week with a pair of home runs and five RBIs. She slugged 1.143, had a pair of doubles and four runs scored.
- The Cavaliers pitching has been the weak link this season as the team has a 5.85 ERA.
- The 5.85 ERA is last in the ACC and 268th in the country.
