JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Redshirt senior Mack Krupp turned in a career night of eight strikeouts in his sixth career start, taking a hard luck loss as Radford only collected two hits in a 2-0 loss to ETSU on Wednesday night inside Thomas Stadium.

Despite allowing a leadoff single to Aaron Maher in the bottom of the first that resulted in a Caleb Longley sacrifice fly, Krupp held the Buccaneers to only two hits over his next five frames. Maher moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and stolen base for the only run of the game until the eighth inning.

Krupp retired the Bucs in order only one time, working around three walks and a two-hit third inning. Of the eight strikeouts, Krupp turned in three innings with two strikeouts coming in the first three frames.

The Colonial Heights, Va., native matched a career best 5.2 innings pitched, while the eight punch outs surpass his previous career high of three on two occasions. Krupp joins Austin Ross as the only two Highlander starters with eight-plus strikeouts in a game.

Radford recorded the first of its two hits in the second inning on a Garrett Matheny two-out double down the left field line. Matheny was the only Highlander to touch second base. Colby Higgerson provided the other Highlander hit in the fourth on a two-out single.

Luke Wise returned to the Radford lineup for the first time since March 4 after being sidelined with a thumb injury, walking three times in the leadoff spot. The three walks were the only Radford walks of the game.

The Highlanders went 2 for 27 at the plate, collecting both hits with two outs. ETSU was 1 for 10 with runners on base and 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position.

ETSU added its final run of the game in the eighth as Maher greeted Ryan Bywaters with a solo home run to right-center field.

Ben Jackson and Maher finished with two hits each, combining for four of ETSU's six as the top two batters in the lineup.
