HIGHLANDERS MAKE SEASON-HIGH NINE SAVES IN LOSS AT NO. 3 CLEMSON

CLEMSON, S.C. – Goalkeepers Joseba Incera and Sam Farrell combined to make nine saves Tuesday night, but the Radford men's soccer team was defeated by the third-ranked Clemson Tigers, 5-0, at Historic Riggs Field.

Incera tied his career-high with five saves while playing the first half, while Farrell set a new season-high with four saves in his 45 minutes of action.

Clemson opened the scoring in the second minute on a tough-luck own goal that deflected off Wyatt Erzen. The Tigers added a goal in the seventh minute when Adrian Nunez beat Incera one-on-one and tapped the ball into an open net. Clemson's third first-half goal came in the 26th minute, as Tanner Dieterich sent a shot from a difficult angle into the top of the net.

Radford held the Tigers at bay for most of the second half, but two goals in rapid succession put the contest out of reach. Robbie Robinson curled a free kick in off the crossbar in the 76th minute, then James Brighton placed a shot past Farrell just 69 seconds later.

STAT OF THE MATCH
Radford's nine saves are the most in a game since achieving the same feat against Presbyterian on Oct. 6, 2018.

TEAM LEADERS
Victor Valls and Patrick Siczek led Radford with one shot apiece. Both Highlander shots were on target. Baptiste Fousse was the only Highlander to play the full 90 minutes.
