RADFORD, Va.—Radford downed UNC Asheville on Saturday evening in three sets to post back-to-back Big South Conference victories on the weekend. Having yet another spectacular showing,
Stephanie Neast paced the Highlanders on offense with
Mackenzie Meehan doing the same on defense.
SET ONE
Radford the evening off with the first points, thanks to a Neast kill which set the tone for the reminder of the contest.
The beginning moments were back-and-forth with neither team being able to establish a significant lead. The lead would sway from team to team until a Bulldog attack error tied the game up at 18 all. The defense for Radford would stand tall and notch two more points for their cause, with another attack error as well as a block assist by Meehan and
Jordan Coomes. The lead would now belong to the Highlanders at 20-18.
UNC Asheville tacked on several more points but to no avail as kills from
Morgan Goodman, Coomes, and a pair from Neast walled off the attempted comeback at 25-21.
SET TWO
This set seemed to be all Radford. The Highlanders scored in bunches and strung together two very strong rallies while keeping the Bulldogs to eight points.
Radford showed great efficiency on both sides of the ball, garnering points from both their defense and offense. Nine different Highlanders contributed on the offensive end between kills and aces. A trifecta of blocks were dished out by
Hailey Flowers, Neast, and
Mallory McKnight.
Radford cruised through this set, 25-8.
SET THREE
The Highlanders got out to a hot start notching a 9-1 scoring run before a UNC Asheville timeout. Radford wasted no time coming out of the pause in play adding several points through a Bulldog error paired with a Tavares kill and service ace.
UNC Asheville battled back into contention in the late goings, cutting the deficit to five at one point. However, Tavares would ensure the distance between her team and the opposition would remain with her booming kill to increase the lead to 21-15. She would also add a pair of aces moments later.
Flowers and Neast sealed the set as well as the match with kills of their own to aid the Highlanders to a 25-18 win.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Neast concluded the match with 15 kills while hitting an efficient .407 percent. She added two digs and four blocks to her total. Meehan tied her season high for blocks at six while tacking on several kills.
TEAM LEADERS
In addition to Neast, Flowers (9) and Tavares (5) led the way for Radford in kills. Tavares' season high in aces (4) inspired McKnight and

Samantha Reitz (3). Coomes (21) and
Maddie Lentz (14) posted double digit assists, as
