HIGHLANDERS FALL IN MIDWEEK MATCH AT PRESBYTERIAN

CLINTON, S.C. – The Radford men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision Wednesday evening to Presbyterian, as the Blue Hose scored the lone goal of the match midway through the second half.

Radford had a 12-7 advantage in shots and took the only corner kick of the match, but Zacharia Diallo's goal in the 66th minute was all Presbyterian needed to win the match.

The Highlanders controlled most of the possession throughout the match and had a 5-1 advantage in first-half shots. Radford had a golden opportunity to score the opening goal of the match but Dondre' Robinson's header hit the right post midway through the opening half.

Radford had another chance early in the second half to take the lead but Victor Valls sailed his shot over the crossbar. The change in possession sparked a counter-attack for the Blue Hose, with Joseba Incera making a point-blank save in the 63rd minute to keep the score level.

Presbyterian struck for the lone goal of the match three minutes after its counter-attack, as Ryan Standridge found Diallo at the top of the 18-yard box with a pass and the Blue Hose forward slotted his shot under a sprawling Incera for the opening tally.

Radford fired four more shots in the final 24 minutes of play but none of them challenged Blue Hose goalkeeper Valentin Kliebe and the home side held on to take the three points over the Highlanders.

STAT OF THE MATCH
Radford had three different players finish with two shots apiece (Octavio Ocampo, Mouhameth Thiam, Victor Valls). Radford also out-shot Presbyterian in both halves.

TEAM LEADERS
Thure Ilgner and Incera were the lone Highlanders to play the full 90 minutes. Ocampo and Pape Oumar Gueye had Radford's two shots on goal.
