ROBINSON’S GOLDEN GOAL LIFTS HIGHLANDERS INTO BIG SOUTH TOURNAMENT

RADFORD, Va. – Dondre' Robinson scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute on Wednesday night to lead the Radford men's soccer team past Longwood, 2-1, at Cupp Stadium. The win clinched the final spot in the six-team Big South Tournament for the Highlanders.

Robinson's goal was setup by a point-blank save by Joseba Incera on the other end. The Highlanders turned that into a quick counter-attack, with Max-Emilios Angelides sending a long ball through the middle. Mouhameth Thiam took a quick touch that sent Robinson in on a breakaway and the forward beat Lancer goalkeeper Jacob Reimers to send Radford home victorious.

The Highlanders opened the scoring 15 minutes into the contest, as Mouhameth Thiam sent in a free kick from 25 yards out that deflected off the wall of Longwood players and off Reimers' outstretched hands and into the top left corner. The goal was Thiam's team-leading fifth of the season and fourth in conference play.

Longwood answered in the 31st minute, as Filip Hinge beat Incera for his fourth goal of the year. The Lancers then took the lead in the 53rd minute after Chase Quinn's header off a corner kick found its way into the net.

With Radford's tournament hopes on the line, Patrick Siczek scored his first goal of the season with 14 minutes left to knot the game up at two-apiece. Angelides played a long ball to the Charlotte, North Carolina, native, who tucked a low shot past Reimers and into the corner to keep Radford's season alive. Siczek's goal forced overtime, where Incera's save setup Robinson to be the hero.
