RADFORD FALLS TO DARTMOUTH AND APPALACHIAN STATE

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Hannah Medlam went 3-for-6 on the day, but it was not enough as the Radford softball team fell to Dartmouth, 7-0, and Appalachian State, 2-0, on Saturday at the Holy City Showdown.

GAME ONE vs. DARTMOUTH
Medlam had two of Radford's three hits and was the only Highlander with an extra base hit. Sydney Fisher had the other hit for Radford.

The Highlanders also had four errors, which led to two unearned runs. One of the two came in the first inning as a triple by Bryce West scored a pair. West scored on a Radford throwing error.

The Big Green lead increased to four as another unearned run scored in the second inning. They added to their lead in the third when one run scored with a bases loaded groundout and two more scored on a double to left center field.

Jessie Marvin was the pitcher in the circle that allowed the runs to score in the third, but they were credited to Hannah Morris, who allowed left the game with the bases loaded.

After giving up the double, Marvin only allowed two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. The seven strikeouts tied a career high for the senior.

Medlam's double came in the sixth inning and the Highlanders had two runners in scoring position, but the offense just couldn't get it going.

GAME TWO vs. APPALACHIAN STATE
The Highlanders only picked up four hits in the second game of the day against Appalachian State and they all came from different players.

Each team had hits in the first two innings, but didn't get a run to cross the plate. That changed in the third inning when Appalachian State scored all the runs it needed.

Caylie Kifer doubled down the left field line with one out and the next two batters were walked and hit by a pitch, respectively. That loaded the bases for the Mountaineers. Marvin, who got the nod in the circle, hit Baylee Morton and gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead. Then Ally Walters hit an RBI-single to left field that made it a 2-0 contest.

The Highlanders only recorded two more hits for the remaining and one came in the seventh inning. Neither one of the baserunners could get into scoring position and the Highlanders dropped their fourth straight contest.
