WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS MATCH AT ELON, 5-2

ELON, N.C. – The Radford women's tennis team made a small comeback that fell short in a 5-2 loss to Elon on Saturday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
Elon had a 3-0 lead with four matches to play on Saturday when Anastasia Belyaeva and Drousile Dzeubou picked up wins on court 1 and 2, respectively. The pair of wins made things interesting at 3-2 with the final two matches to play.
The match was clinched when Nicole Shiau defeated Tyler Blalock on court 4 in a third set. Blalock took the first set 6-2, but then dropped the final two 6-2, 6-1.
Radford dropped the doubles point as Jeanine Acierto and Belyaeva lost 6-3 in the first doubles match of the day. The Highlanders looked to make a run on court 2, but Katey Fruehauf and Lilly Ellck – who made her first appearance of the season – fell to Uma Nayar and Nicole Shiau.
Elon was off and running with the 1-0 lead and turned it into a 3-0 lead as Acierto dropped court 5, 6-2, 6-0 and Fruehauf lost 6-4, 6-1 on court 6.
UP NEXT
The Highlanders will play in the NRV when they travel to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
