 LACROSSE


vs. Elon - Tuesday, Feb. 25 | 4 p.m.

  • The Highlanders return to Cupp Stadium after quick travels to fellow Commonwealth opponents, No.22 Virginia Tech and Old Dominion. 
  • Amanda Paino and Brittany Rinaldi have both scored in every game so far for Radford but one.
  • Katie Carroll set numerous career and season highs in every major category but one.
  • Margaret Gleason joins fellow freshman Anna Ogan as the two Highlander newcomers with goals so far this season. 
  • Elon downed Big South foe, Campbell, to open the 2020 season in 12-5 decision.
  • The Phoenix also faced No.22 Virginia Tech recently where the Hokies doubled-up the scoring in the 7-14 route.
 
 BASEBALL

  • **UPDATE: This game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but has been moved up due to potential inclement weather in Blacksburg on that day.**
  • Radford continues its season-opening 11-game road trip on Tuesday afternoon when it visits Virginia Tech for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
  • The Highlanders are looking to to return to the win column after a tough series at Mercer, in which the Highlanders were in every game until the late innings.
  • Anthony Galati had a hit in all three games of the Mercer series and is the only Highlander to reach base safely in all seven games this season.
  • Colby Higgerson had a game-high three hits and three RBIs in Sunday's series finale at Mercer. Higgerson leads the team with a .387 batting average through Radford's first seven games of the season.
  • Brandon Feathers has been lights-out in relief this season, posting a 1.04 ERA in 8 2/3 innings across three appearances. Feathers has struck out nine batters across those appearances.
  • Tanner Barrs had the first two hits of his Radford career in the Highlanders' last midweek contest at Liberty. Barrs added another hit in Sunday's game at Mercer.
  • Opposing base-stealers are just 2-for-9 when running on Straton Podaras this season. Podaras' seven runners thrown out lead the Big South Conference.
  • Garrett Matheny and Podaras are the Big South's top two players when it comes to being hit by pitches. Matheny has been plunked a league-leading six times, while Podaras has been hit four times.
  • Virginia Tech enters Tuesday with a 3-3 record after taking two of three games on the road at Louisiana over the weekend.
  • The Hokies have had trouble scoring runs, but their pitching staff has put together a stellar 2.25 ERA through the first six games of the season.

 
 SOFTBALL
 

vs. No. 24 Virginia Tech - Wednesday, Feb. 26 | 4 p.m.

Records: Radford (6-3) | Virginia Tech (12-3)

  • Radford (6-3) went 2-2 with last week at the Pirate Classic with wins over Sacred Heart and Youngstown State.
  • Talia Douglas went 8-for-14 with seven runs scored, three doubles and a home run in five games, while Hunter Mundy had three home runs.
  • The senior tallied the third multi-home run game of her career hitting two in the 4-0 win over Youngstown State.
  • Douglas leads the team with a .600 batting average, which currently ranks fourth in all of NCAA Softball.
  • Sydney Fisher ranks 16th in the nation in doubles per game with 0.56. She's got five doubles so far this season.
  • Jessie Marvin (3-1) leads the team with 22 strikeouts and a 1.40 ERA. Two of her four outings have been shutouts.
  • Virginia Tech (12-3) enters with a seven game winning streak. Two of its seven wins came against Top 25 programs in No. 13 Minnesota and No. 21 Northwestern.
  • The Hokies rank 11th in the nation in scoring with 7.67 runs per game and 14th with 1.3 home runs per outing.
  • Keely Rochard leads the team with seven victories in the circle, which ranks fifth in the nation.

 
 MEN'S TENNIS


vs. Hampton - Wednesday, Feb. 24 | 2 p.m.
Where: Radford, Va.
Records: Radford (3-1, 0-0 BSC) | Hampton (0-6, 0-2 BSC)
Series: Radford leads 3-0
  • The men's tennis program is coming off two big wins against UNC Greensboro (4-3) and North Carolina A&T (5-2).
  • This is the conference opener for the Highlanders where the Highlanders are looking to start the conference schedule off with a win for the second straight season.
  • Freshman Demi Taramonlis led Radford in both matches with four victories on court one in singles and doubles. Taramonlis teamed up with Andres Silva to help the Highlanders win both doubles points in the past week.
  • Silva is also coming off a perfect 4-0 week in doubles and singles with his wins coming on court four.

 
 WOMEN'S TENNIS


vs. Hampton - Wednesday, Feb. 24 | 2 p.m.
Where: Radford, Va.
Records: Radford (2-2, 0-1) | Hampton (0-4, 0-2)
Series: Radford leads 2-0
  • The women's tennis program split their doubleheader against Campbell and North Carolina A&T last Saturday with the win coming against North Carolina A&T.
  • Anastasia Belyaeva won both her matches on court one for the Highlanders with an intense win against Campbell 7-6, 5-7, 10-8.
  • Freshman Camryn McClure picked up her first singles win in her first appearance as a Highlander on court six 6-4, 6-0 against North Carolina A&T.
  • This is the second Big South match of the season after a tough battle with Campbell last weekend.
