MADDIE BOWMAN SETS PROGRAM RECORD AGAINST LA SALLE

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Radford's noon tilt at La Salle on Saturday, concluded in a 5-12 decision. The Explorers' (2-3) eight goals in the second half carried them past the Highlanders (1-5) in the matchup. Goalkeeper Maddie Bowman set a new program record with her 20 saves.

Radford was the first to score on the afternoon, as Bella Signorello notched her first goal of the season on a free position attempt. La Salle's response was swift, tying the game up within a matter of minutes. No matter though, because the senior leader Amanda Paino would make sure the tie wouldn't last very long.

The Explorers knotted the game again, this time at two all via a free position attempt from Emily Johnston.

Now in a groove, both teams settled in and the defenses stepped up for each respective squad. La Salle posted a pair of goals to close out the opening stanza and entered halftime with a 4-2 advantage. Radford sent up several offerings net but were unable to capitalize. Meanwhile, Bowman and the rest of the Highlander defense held against 11 Explorer shots down the stretch.

Radford commenced the second stanza putting the La Salle defense in disarray. The Highlanders took shot after shot and finally saw Paino's second goal of the game, seventh on the season. The Explorers followed with one of their own moments later and proceeded to tack on several more during that rally. Off a free position shot, Margaret Gleason was able to secure her second goal of the 2020 season bringing Radford within four of the opposition.

A pair of La Salle goals pushed their total to 10 with about 11 minutes remaining. Grace Gleason has scored in every game for Radford, except two, and today she reached goal number eight on the season with a slash to the back of the net. The Highlanders now trailed by five, 5-10.

However, two more goals in the waning minutes for the Explorers pushed the game just out of reach. Leading the way for La Salle was Annina Iacobucci who tallied three goals.

Paino's deuce paced the offensive efforts for the Highlanders in the matchup. As a quartet of Radford players combined for five caused turnovers in—Katie Bendrick, Kirsten Grzybowski, Maggie Egan, and Rachel Rogers

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHT
Not only did she lead the team in ground balls at five, but Bowman spent the entire 60 minutes in the net for Radford and never once wavered. Her 20 saves in the contest are now a new Radford lacrosse program record.
