HIGHLANDERS MAKE QUICK WORK OF CAVS IN HOME OPENER

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team picked up a quick 7-0 victory in its home opener over UVA-Wise on Sunday afternoon, where not a single player dropped a set.

In doubles play the Highlanders set the tone with three 6-0 victories thanks to the doubles teams of Demi Taramonlis and Andres Silva, Konstantinos Raptis and Matko Varga and William Crane and Karl Katlaps. The duo of Raptis and Varga were the first to finish with Crane and Katlaps clinching the doubles point.

The team moved on to singles play where four different players won their games with a final score 6-0, 6-0. Crane was the first of the Highlanders to finish with Katlaps, Taramonlis and Varga moving through their games with ease as well.

Raptis, in his first singles match on the Radford home court, clinched the match for the Highlanders with his 6-0, 6-1 final on court three. Silva rounded out the day of competition with his game on court two with a final score of 6-1, 6-0.

The victory is also head coach Rob Bareford's 50th victory at the collegiate level and his 18th victory while at the helm at Radford.

The Highlanders won't be resting for long as a pivotal match with UNC Greensboro is slated for 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday.
