RADFORD FALLS IN SERIES FINALE AT GEORGIA SOUTHERN

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Radford baseball team closed out its season opening 11-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at J.I. Clements Stadium, falling to the Georgia Southern Eagles, 19-2.

The Highlanders scored both of their runs in the fourth inning, as Will Harless hit an RBI double for his team-leading 10th run batted in this season, and Tanner Barrs hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning to drive in a run.

Georgia Southern did most of its damage in three innings, scoring six in the second, four in the fourth and seven in the seventh. The Eagles also plated runs in the third and fifth. Georgia Southern took advantage of four Radford errors and scored six unearned runs in the game, while batting around the order in the second, fourth and seventh.

Brandon Donovan earned the start for the Highlanders and struck out four batters in three innings while giving up seven runs (five earned).

The only Highlander on the mound who fared well against the Eagle lineup wasn't even a pitcher. Infielder Austin Kaplan threw two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out a pair.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
J.D. Mundy extended his hit streak to seven games with a single in the ninth inning. Bryce Frederick recorded his first career hit, a single in the seventh inning. Harless' RBI double was the only extra-base hit the Highlanders had all weekend. Kaplan's relief appearance was the first of his career.
