Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

WOMEN’S LACROSSE TOPS HARTFORD

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Led by Grace Gleason's four goals, the Radford women's lacrosse team got back in the win column with an 18-12 victory over Hartford on Saturday in West Hartford, Conn.
 
Gleason got the game started with a goal just three minutes into the game. Then Amanda Paino and Margaret Gleason scored and took an early 3-0 lead. 
 
Hartford got on the board under the 20 minute mark and was only behind by two. Radford went on a 7-0 run over a 10-minute period and took a 10-1 lead with 8:39 lead. Jennifer Shield scored three of the seven goals and assisted on one.
 
Each team scored a pair of goals in the first half and the Highlanders had a 12-3 lead heading into the locker room. Radford then rattled off three straight goals in the second half by three different players. The 15-3 lead was the largest of the game with 17:26 to play.
 
The Hawks scored seven of the next eight goals and cut the lead 16-10 with. Then 19 seconds later, Gleason scored a man up goal – her 13th of the season to push the lead to seven. Hartford scored two of the final three goals but Radford's large lead would not have been overcome.
 
Radford scored 12 goals in the first half and took 21 shots – 19 of them on goal. The Highlanders finished with 35 shots, including 30 on goal – a season best. The Highlanders also won 21 draw controls compared to Hartford's 11.
 
Bella Signorello and Shield scored three goals along with Gleason's four totaling for 10 of the 18 goals. Margaret Gleason had for assists and contributed two goals. Paino and Katie Carroll also had multi-goal games totaling six players with multiple goals. All of Grace Gleason's shots were on goal.
