Radford Concludes Play At Buccaneer Classic With Solid Third Round

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Shooting an even 300 on the day, the Radford Women's Golf team saved its best round for last and finished ninth at the 2021 Buccaneer Classic.

The Highlanders opened the tournament with a 302 on Monday morning and followed it up with a 305 later in the day. For context, Tuesday's score of 300 was better than that of four other Big South programs who also played in the tournament.

Niki Batac was excellent in the third round, limiting her mistakes and only recording a single bogey and one double-bogey. She birdied the third, fourth, and 15th holes to shoot even and climb up the individual leaderboard into a tie for 37th.

Joining her in 37th place was Natalie Welsh and Riko Nagai, who also ended the trip at 10-over par. Welsh sunk birdies on the second and third holes on Tuesday while Nagai notched one on the eighth hole.

Similar to Batac, Jayden Dudley did well to stay consistent and shoot for par on the vast majority of holes. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the 12th hole.

True freshman Kaitlyn Mosdell gained invaluable experience against a tough field of competitors and rounded out the scoring for the Highlanders.

Both Coastal Carolina as a team, and Tiffany Arafi as an individual, held on to take home the title.

Radford concludes its fall slate of tournaments with UNC Asheville's French Broad Invitational next month. The three-day event will take place from Monday, Nov. 8 through Wednesday, Nov. 10 at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.
