First Round of The French Broad Invitational In The Books For Women's Golf

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford Women's Golf team powered through the first 18 holes of the 2021 French Broad Invitational, hosted by UNC Asheville at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, on Monday.

On the day of her 22^nd birthday, Niki Batac tied for the best performance of any Highlander on their first attempt at the Par 71, 5,937-yard course. She shot +13 on the day, including birdies on the 7^th and 17^th holes, and sits tied for 52^ndin the 70-golfer field.

Freshman Kaitlyn Mosdell also recorded a +13, thanks in large part to back-to-back birdies on the 1^st and 2^ndholes. She then followed it up with another birdie on the Par-3 5^th hole.

Seniors Natalie Welsh (+14, T-57^th) and Riko Nagai (+14, 62^nd) came in just behind Batac on the leaderboard. Welsh's best moments of the first round were identical to her teammate's tallying birdies on both the 7^th and 17^th holes as well.

Making her first start for the Highlanders this fall, Jimenna Ramirez shot +17 to round out the scoring for the squad.

Radford tackles the second round of the French Broad Invitational on Tuesday. The field will tee off at 10 a.m. and live results will continue to be posted on golfstat.com.
