ILOUISVILLE, Ky. – Not one, but two Radford Cross Country program records were broken at the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, courtesy of Nate Jennings and Hannah Moran.
Â
Running an 8K this time out, the men were the first to hear the starting gun on the day and the Highlanders had a day to remember. Jennings paced the team with a time of 24:43.6, breaking the previous school record of 25:19.0 held by Dawit Legesse (2006).
Â
Not to be overshadowed, Joshua Daggett also ran an incredible race, posting a time of 24:59.0 to move into 2nd place in program history. Luke Richards was the next Highlander to cross the finish line, just missing the program's top-10 list with a time of 25:44.3.
Â
Sam Sikora (26:11.0), Hayat Khan (26:34.6), and Clay Kelly (26:37.8) were the next trio to finish the race while Alejo Cobos (26:49.3), Adam Downs (27:13.2), and Nick McCumsey (28:21.5) rounded out the men's race for Radford.
Â
On the women's side, this marks the second time already this season that Hannah Moran has toppled a record. The Salem, Va. native placed 8th out of 399 runners and ran a 16:48.7, surpassing the previous mark of 17:28.8 set by current teammate Rachel Werking last spring.
Â
Speaking of Werking, she was the second Highlander to finish and 61st overall thanks to a time of 17:43.2. MacKenzie Gardner joined her in the top-100, placing 89th with a time of 18:03.5.
Â
Savannah Hoff (18:24.9), Rachel Millirons (18:31.7), and MegAnne Gilmore (18:42.2) each broke the 19-minute mark. Chloe Wellings (19:08.7), Abby Seigel (19:24.1), and Maddie Yancey (20:05.3) competed hard and completed the day for Radford.
Â
As a team, the women finished 11th out of 32 with 424 points, a great momentum-builder heading deeper into the season.
