RADFORD, Va. – It was a night to remember for the senior class of this year's Radford Men's Soccer team as they led the Highlanders to a 3-2 victory over Gardner-Webb at Cupp Stadium on Saturday night.
Octavio Ocampo,
Max-Emilios Angelides,
Dorion Dixon,
Dondre' Robinson,
Jose Rivera, and
Patrick Siczek were each honored pregame as part of the Senior Day festivities.
It was Robinson who made sure the party kept going as he put Radford in front, 1-0, in the 16
th minute.
Quincy Etienne placed a through ball directly into his path and he calmly beat the keeper with a right-footed shot.
The Runnin' Bulldogs responded with a goal of their own in the 31
st minute to tie the game, but
Giovanni Vasquez fired a strike from deep and hit the back of the net just before halftime to give the home side the lead once more.
In the 51
st minute, Etienne started a combination of long passes that went through
Yoshiya Okawa and reached Angelides, who extended Radford's lead to 3-1. It wasn't until the 74
th minute that GWU managed to pull one back and make it a one-goal game with 15 minutes to go.
