Radford Splits With Presbyterian In Five Set Bout

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford (3-3, 3-3 BSC) volleyball team was taken to the brink in the series finale versus Presbyterian (2-4, 2-4 BSC) on Sunday night. The Blue Hose flipped the Highlander 2-0 lead and battled back to take the remaining several sets.

In a pair of hard-fought sets, Radford edged out Presbyterian by two and three-point margins to take the early 2-0 lead. The Blue Hose battled back and forced a 28-26 stanza in the third set which put the match at 2-1 overall.

Set Four
Going point-for-point were the two teams until Presbyterian pieced together a nice 13-7 lead over Radford. However, the Highlanders mounted a seven-point rally to take the lead at 14-13. Another five-point swing moments later for Radford positioned them at 19-15.

The teams reached 20 and were deadlocked. Miscues by the Blue Hose paired with a kill from Morgan Lawson situated the home team with the three-point advantage. Presbyterian rallied back to take the set with five straight points, 25-23.

Set Five
The race to 15 was not an easy one for either team, with the deciding set seeing a pair of ties. At the final halt of 14 all, a block assist from Samantha Reitz and Lawson put Radford back in contention. But the final two points went in favor of the Blue Hose, thanks to back-to-back kills from Erin Cooke.
