Corbett In Second At -10 Through Two Rounds of Elon Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Bryce Corbett torched the course at Alamance Country Club to the tune of -10 across two rounds and now sits second out of 100 golfers on the individual leader board at the Elon Phoenix Invitational.

The standout junior shot a 4-under par 67 in the first round on the strength of six birdies and then proceeded to match his career-best score on a Par 71 in the second round, shooting a 6-under par 65. The last time he carded a 65 was in the first round of App State's Bash at the Beach on March 3, 2022.

Corbett's second trip through the course seven more birdies and an eagle on the Par 5 12^th hole after starting the round on the 4^th hole where he began a streak of four straight birdies. He is within two strokes of Elon's Garrett Risner for the top spot heading into the final round.

Nicholas Taliaferro was a bit less than sharp in the first round, carding a +3, but he more than made up for it with a sterling second round. The Richmond, Va. product absolutely tore up the back nine with five birdies and an eagle, which also came on the 12^th hole. He jumped 39 spots up the leaderboard and is tied for 18^th.

Trading between birdies and bogeys all day was Nathan Piatt, who shot even in the first round and +1 in the second round. His third Radford appearance featured nine birdies and 10 bogeys for an uneven showing. Even still, his penchant for birdies has him tied for 35^th thus far.

Rounding out the group were Channing Blevins and Bobby Dudeck. The pair of juniors each shot +7 on the day and are tied for 72^nd.

As a team, the Highlanders are tied for 4^th with App State; both teams are currently at -4.
