Lynch Named Big South Defensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Saleena Lynch has been named Big South Defensive Player of the Week.

The senior leader for the Highlanders led a defensive back line this past weekend that shutout one of the conference's best offenses in a 3-0 victory over Gardner-Webb. Lynch contributed to the back line's second straight shutout which has come at a pivotal time in the regular season. While the opposing Runnin' Bulldogs got 17 shots off on the night, only six of those shots were on goal.

The Suffolk, Va. native has now amassed over 4,000 minutes played in her career with the Highlanders. Last Saturday was the 33rd shutout that she has been a part of in four seasons with the Highlanders.

Just one match remains for the Highlanders in the 2022 regular season. Next Wednesday Radford and High Point will finish things off with another sure-to-be fun meeting with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
