Nagai, Highlanders Move Up On Day Two of Big South Championships

NINETY SIX, S.C. – Senior captain Riko Nagai helped the Radford women's golf team move up a spot in the standings with a standout second round at the 2022 Big South Championships.

Nagai matched her best round of the season, shooting a 1-over par 73 to jump 21 spots up the individual leaderboard and into a tie for 28^th. The Yokohama, Japan native carded five birdies to give herself a fantastic bounce back effort after an up-and-down first round.

Her co-captain, Natalie Welsh, posted a second consecutive 77 thanks to a pair of birdies and still leads the Highlanders with a +10 overall. She is just outside the top-20 in a tie for 21^st.

Caleigh Street stayed steady, using 80 strokes on Thursday to keep herself in the middle of the pack in a tie for 33^rd. The freshman also carded two birdies, which came on the 6^th and 18^th holes.

Jimenna Ramirez and Jayde Dudley each shot 13-over par and sit in a tie for 42^nd and in 54^th place, respectively.

There was plenty of red on the golfstat scorecard for Radford, as the squad combined to sink 11 birdies.

A tight race is brewing at the top of the team standings as High Point overtakes USC Upstate in first at +20. The Spartans and Campbell are just behind them at +21, however, making for an exciting last day to come. Campbell's Anna Nordfors and High Point's Danielle Suh are the current leaders in the clubhouse at even.
