RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team fell to High Point 21-7 on Saturday. Six Highlanders recorded points in the game, led by
Margaret Gleason with three.
Â
Gleason and
Katie Carroll both scored two goals on the day.
Grace Gleason also found the net as she and Carroll celebrated their senior day. The other Highlander offense was provided by
Molly O'Brien and
Ashlyn Grogan tallies.
Â
In a game that saw Abby Hormes fire in 10 goals and an assist for High Point, it was a moment of growth for Radford. The Highlanders displayed moments of great competitiveness, even outscoring the Panthers 4-3 in the third quarter.
Â
The Highlanders outperformed the Panthers in both draw controls and ground balls with 20-12 and 19-17 margins, respectively. Moreover, the Highlanders spread the wealth with seven players tallying multiple draw controls with freshman
River Rupert leading the way with five. Similarly, five players recorded multiple ground balls with
Laura Ferko and
Cameron Counts leading with three.
Â
Nearly a year removed from a 20-7 loss to High Point in the Big South title game, the Highlanders demonstrated their growth since the season opener and proved that the season is a journey.
Â
WHAT'S NEXT?
To that end, the Highlanders are back in action on Wednesday as they host Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m. in the last home game of the year.
