Highlanders Continue Success at JMU Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Radford women's track & field program competed at the JMU Invitational on Saturday at the campus of James Madison University. The Highlanders were highlighted by six performances which rank in the top 10 in school history, including first-time top-10 performer, Parker Goldstein in the high jump.

Goldstein cleared a height of 1.58m (5-2.25) for a career best and sole possession of 10th in the Radford record book after narrowly missing the top 10 in her last two competitions.

Julia Burkley notched a personal record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.30 to move up to fifth in Radford history. Also on the track, the 4x100 team of Denisha Hoosier, Shaneece Smith, Kelsey Arnold and Breauna Lane notched the seventh-best time in school history with a 47.97 finish.

In the 3,000m, Rachel Millirons and MegAnne Gilmore took third and fourth with times of 10:23.68 and 10:28.59, respectively. Millirons already owns the school record in the event, down under 10 minutes, while Gilmore moved from sixth to fifth in the standings. Also amongst the distance crew, Savannah Hoff narrowly snagged herself a PR in the 1,500m with a time of 5:02.74.

Early in the day, Austin Swallow and Bayle Wood held strong in the throws. Swallow opened the competition by launching a PR distance of 41.19m (135-1) in the hammer throw, narrowly missing top 10 in school history. Swallow followed that throw up by matching her PR in the javelin with a throw of 36.53m while Bayle Wood uncorked one for second in Radford history with a 38.87m (124-3) mark.
