Highlanders Host 2022 RUBY Awards

RADFORD, Va. – Radford Athletics hosted its annual end of year all-sports banquet, the RUBY'S, Monday evening inside the Dedmon Center.
 
Demis Taramonlis of men's tennis was named Men's Athlete of the Year after his undefeated 2022 campaign which culminated in a Big South Championship for the team. Bryce Corbett of men's golf and Joseba Incera of men's soccer were also nominated in the category.
 
Hannah Moran of cross country/track & field was named Women's Athlete of the Year after a Big South Runner of the Year campaign on the cross country course which saw her become the program's first individual champion since 1993. Moran then went on to torch the Radford record books on the track. Kayla Thomas of women's soccer and Salma Loudili of women's tennis were also nominated in the category.
 
Baseball's Ty Dooley was named Men's Newcomer of the Year for his stellar freshman campaign. Rashun Williams of men's basketball and Robert Hagen of men's tennis were also nominated in the category.
 
Kat Parris of women's soccer was named Women's Newcomer of the Year for her record-breaking season on the pitch in the fall. Cori McMillan of softball and Caleigh Street of women's golf also earned nominations in the category.
 
Softball's Tori Boyd was named the winner of the Jen Norton Courage Award, which is given to an individual who has possessed strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of trial and the willingness to display positivity following a hardship.
 
The 2021-22 RUBY Cup went to the women's soccer program. The RUBY Cup recognizes the team that achieved over a 3.0 GPA, displays team spirit at competitions, and is active in the community throughout the year.
 
Colin Hawes (Soccer) and Karl Katlaps (Tennis) received the Strength & Conditioning award on the men's side while Austin Swallow (T&F) won the women's award.
 
The Highlander 4 Highlander award, which goes to the team which best supported other Radford athletics teams, went to the men's golf team.
 
Andres Silva of men's tennis and Hailey Flowers of volleyball were named Scholar Athletes of the Year for their outstanding efforts in the classroom this year.
 
Brandon Feathers of baseball and Grace Green of volleyball won the Senior Leadership awards for their efforts with their respective programs.
