TOWSON, Md. – An overall positive weekend ends with a pair of tough losses to Towson and Princeton inside SECU Arena on Saturday.
RADFORD vs. TOWSON RECAP
The three-time reigning Colonial Athletic Association champions showed why they'll be contending for another title this season in a 3-0 defeat of Radford on Saturday morning.
The Highlanders struggled to contend with the Tigers at the net, committing 23 attacking errors compared to just three for the hosts. Towson also earned a 7-0 advantage in blocks in the match.
Taylor Jefferson's name sat atop the box score for Radford thanks to 12 kills and just a pair of errors for a .500 hitting percentage on 20 attack attempts.
Sophie Paspal also committed just two errors on the day, finishing off 9-of-14 attacks for kills to achieve a .500 hitting percentage as well.
Jackeline Nerro and
Fiona Baker tallied 15 assists each in the three-set match, while
Crystal Childs led all players on either side of the court with nine digs.

- Offensive balance was once again a bright spot for Radford, as nine different players recorded at least one kill each
RADFORD vs. PRINCETON RECAP
Looking to bounce back after a loss earlier in the day, Radford simply didn't have enough left in the tank to beat a talented Princeton team and suffered another 3-0 defeat.
Ten of the Highlanders' 28 kills in the match came from
Crystal Childs and another seven came courtesy of
Taylor Jefferson. The duo also posted six digs and one assist each, while both players hit approximately .120.
Radford was slow out of the gate, falling behind early and taking a 25-13 loss in the first set. The team regrouped and fared much better in the second set, going from just 10 digs the first time out to 24 while also jumping from seven kills to 10 in a 25-22 result.
The Highlanders hit a much-improved .323 in the third and final set, racking up a game-high 11 kills on 10 assists, but the Tigers still proved to be too much to handle.
KEY STATS
- Radford matched a season high with five service aces against Princeton
- Those aces were spread out between five Highlanders – Childs, Tori Britton, Fiona Baker, Estella Sawyer, and Miranda Howard
- Speaking of Sawyer, this match marked her first career appearance at the collegiate level
UP NEXT
Radford will turn the page when it heads to Williamsburg, Va. to face off against George Mason on Friday, Sept. 9 and Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, Sept. 10.
