Highlanders Blocked By Blue Hose In 3-1 Loss

CLINTON, S.C. – The Radford volleyball team couldn't match the high-flying Presbyterian Blue Hose in a 3-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Radford moves to 3-13 overall and 2-5 in Big South play while the Blue Hose improve to 7-11 on the season, including a 5-2 record against conference foes.

The Highlanders dug themselves into an early 1-0 hole thanks to a variety of miscues throughout the first set. The team's 11 kills and one service ace were a good start, but eight attack errors and a trio of service errors were too difficult to overcome.

Radford's efficiency took a big leap forward in the second set, as they upped their output to 12 kills and two aces while committing just a pair of attack errors. The effort erased a four-point deficit late in the set and pushed Presbyterian to its limit for a 26-24 win, tying the match.

Some of that success carried over into the third set, but another eight attack errors slowed the Highlanders' progress. Even still, they showed absolutely zero quit, pulling themselves out of an 18-11 hole before PC managed to pull away and go ahead, 2-1.

Mirroring the set before, Radford once again found itself down 18-11 in the fourth set. Their tanks weren't as full this time around however, as the Blue Hose finished things off with a 25-17 victory to close out the weekend.

Olivia Flanagan ended the day with 12 kills on 24 total attacks, giving her double-digits in the category for the fourth time this season and in back-to-back matches after tallying 10 yesterday.

Sophie Paspal had 10 kills of her own, giving her double-digit kills in three consecutive matches and for the fourth overall time this season as well.

PC out-hit the Highlanders .252 to .144 and were credited with 11 total blocks compared to just two for Radford.
