ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of UNC Asheville for the second time this season with a dominant performance inside the Justice Center on Saturday afternoon.
Marking a huge road win for the Highlanders, they now stand at 4-14 overall with a 3-6 record in the Big South. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs drop to 6-17 on the season and 0-9 against conference foes.
It was a truly incredible stat line for Head Coach
Sherisa Livingston's squad in the first set, as Radford put up 10 kills and three blocks, but also six service aces. The team has recorded six or more aces in an entire match just six times on the year and they matched that in one set.
Their effort resulted in a breezy 25-18 victory, giving the visitors an important 1-0 advantage early in the match.
With 10 kills and an even better four blocks, Radford put up another 25-18 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead. While their attacking wasn't quite as sharp, the defense forced eight errors from the Bulldogs without allowing a service ace.
UNC Asheville showed a lot of fight in the third set, going up 13-5 to kick it off. The hosts grew their lead all the way to 19-10 before Radford fired back with a 7-0 run to pull within two.
The Highlanders tied it up at 20-all before Asheville managed a mini 2-0 run of their own, but that lead wasn't safe either as Radford closed out the match on a 5-0 run to cap off their road swing with a win.
