CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference released its 2023-24 Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll on Thursday afternoon predicting Radford's women's team to finish third overall.
After an outstanding performance in the 2022-23 Indoor Track and Field Big South Championships, the Highlanders earn four points for third place. Additionally, they received two points for fourth place and one point for fifth place, totaling 31 points. This sets them six points ahead of UNC Asheville and USC Upstate who tied for fourth place. High Point once again is predicted to come out on top with a total of 49 points.
Last season's podium finishers,
Sophie Magson and
Chloe Wellings will return for the Highlander's 2023-24 season. Jumper
Dezmajia Carter also will be making a comeback for the team after placing fifth in last season's triple jump alongside
Raichelle Cornelius and
Elyssia Fisher, both named Freshman of the Week last year.
Radford Indoor Track and field kicks off their season on Friday, December 1 at the Liberty Kickoff in Lynchburg, VA. The Big South Championships will begin on Friday, February 23 and conclude on Saturday, February 24 in Blacksburg, VA.
