Radford Falls in Season Opener Against Richmond

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Radford women's tennis program kicked off their 2023 campaign Friday night against Richmond. The team had some nice individual battles against a tough Spiders squad but fell 6-0.
In the doubles point, Julia Abrams and Emily Brandow had a great debut at the top court dispatching their opponent with ease 6-1. Richmond took the other two courts, however, to take an early advantage in the match.
Richmond took five singles courts for the final score, but Highlanders including Abrams, Lexi Smolder and Ameek Batth had close battles. Brandow was still battling on court three down 2-4 in the second set before the match was called.
Radford will regroup for a quick turnaround as the team is back in Blacksburg, Va. tomorrow night at 6 p.m. for a New River showdown against Virginia Tech.
