RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program cruised to a 7-0 sweep over Big South foe Longwood Thursday afternoon in their first home match of the season.
The dominant evening started with the Highlanders collecting wins on all three doubles courts. Aditya Balsekar and Guilherme Severin wasted no time finishing first in a 6-1 win on court two. Demis Taramonlis and Konstantinos Raptis were equally impressive with a 6-1 win on court two. Rounding out the doubles sweep was Robert Hagen and Filippo Marangoni who won 6-2 on court three.
Similar to doubles play, Radford didn't drop a single court or even set in singles. Balsekar was efficient in dispatching his opponent 6-1, 6-2 on court two. Severin was the next quick Highlander to pick up a court as he won 6-3, 6-0 on court four. Hagen would have the clinching court for the Highlanders as he battled to a 6-4, 6-1 straight set victory.
Before the match ended Radford would pick up a trio of victories to complete their fourth straight win. Reigning Big South Player of the Week Raptis was dominant on court three again with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Taramonlis picked up a win on the top flight for Radford winning a second set tiebreaker 6-3, 7-6(2). The freshman Marangoni rounded out the day with his 7-5, 6-3 win on court six.
