Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Highlanders Cruise Past Big Blue 7-0

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis program picked up a dominant 7-0 victory over Bluefield State Monday afternoon with the program sweeping the doubles and singles courts.

Radford got the winning started in doubles play where Rachel Ekanem and Brooke Murphy were decisive in their 6-1 win on court two. Camryn McClure and Lexi Smolder clinched the 1-0 advantage with a 6-4 win on court three. Julia Abrams and Emily Brandow gutted out a win on court one 7-6(6) as well.

In singles the Highlanders kept the wins coming. Brandow was quick in dispatching her opponent on court two 6-1, 6-0. McClure finished off her great day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory playing on a higher court, court four. Rachel Ekanem had the clinching court for the Highlanders as she also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 on court five.

Rounding out the wins on the day, Smolder stayed hot with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court three. Julia Abrams came back from down early in the second set to hold onto a straight set 6-4, 6-4 win on the top flight. Brooke Murphy finished the day for the Highlanders as she held on to win on court six 7-5, 6-4.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders return to conference play later this week as they hit they road to face Campbell on Friday, April 7th with a 1 p.m. first serve.
