
Dance’s Record Book Finish and Women’s Team’s Strong Finish Highlight Pirate XC Invite

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Radford men's and women's cross-country programs competed at the Pirate XC Invite early Friday morning notching strong performances on both sides. Charlie Dance's record book performance highlighted the men's side while the women's program put forth a strong team effort to place high in a competitive field.
The men's program kicked off the morning for the Highlanders and were highlighted by Charlie Dance breaking his way into the program top 10 list with a huge personal record. The junior ran a 25:15.5 in the 8K event which is good for fifth all-time in program history.
The senior Maxton Sowers was the top finisher for the Highlanders placing in the top 50 of a loaded competition field. Following Dance who finished second, Clay Kelly, Andrew Kight and Logan Hamilton rounded out the Highlanders top five finishers.
The women's program shortly followed the men's and ran towards a strong team effort that saw the Highlanders place ahead of programs such as Coastal Carolina, Elon and VCU. Kate McLearen was the first to finish for the Highlanders placing 25th among over 200 competitors. Just behind her was Sienna Bailey, Megan Cash, Claire Keefe and Mia Farley to round out Radford's top five finishers. The freshman Keefe's time was also an impressive personal record for the newcomer.
The Highlanders return to action in a couple of weeks to compete in a pair of meets to close out the regular season. On October 18th, Radford is scheduled to compete in the Mountaineer Feud in Boone, N.C. The following day, Radford will look to compete at the Panorama Farms hosted by Virginia on October 19th.
