Volleyball Hosts Senior Day Against High Point in Regular Season Finale

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball program hosted Senior Day against High Point Friday night to close out the regular season, falling 3-0 in the match.
 
Before the match, Radford honored six seniors including Sydney Mundkowsky, Sophie Paspal, Julia Slivka, Olivia Flanagan, Meredith Page and Jordan Taylor for their hard work, dedication, and everything they did to elevate the program in their time as Highlanders.
 
KEY STATS
  • The senior Flanagan was strong on the attack tonight earning seven kills while hitting .353.
  • Sierra Moore also earned seven kills with a block assist.
  • Radford committed just three service errors to High Point's 13.
  • Paspal led the blocking efforts with one solo block and five assists.
 
PLAY BY PLAY
The first set of the night was tightly contested between the two squads as Radford was able to take advantage of some early Panthers' miscues. Flanagan would earn a pair of kills to pace Radford ahead 5-3 before the teams would trade points back and forth.
 
Radford would go up 18-16 late in the set, but a well-timed timeout put High Point back in charge as they came out on a 5-0 run to retake the lead. Radford would get a 3-0 run of its own late in the set but came up just short 25-23.
 
Radford would lead early 3-1 in the second set after an ace by Roman and a pair of blocks. The Panthers responded quickly using a 7-1 run to build a lead that would hold the rest of the way 25-19.
 
The third set similarly saw some bright spots from Radford despite the eventual Panthers win. Seniors Taylor and Paige got to shine late with some blocks and kills before the match would go final 3-0.
 
AROUND THE BIG SOUTH
  • Winthrop ended their season with a strong 3-0 finish over Gardner-Webb.
  • In a match with huge postseason implications, Presbyterian pulled out a 3-1 victory over Charleston Southern in four tight sets.
 
UP NEXT
Radford will await their match-up for the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament after the conclusion of the regular season tomorrow, November 16th. The Big South tournament is being hosted in High Point, N.C. this year with action beginning on Friday, November 22nd.
