FARMVILLE, Va. – The Radford men's soccer program concluded their 2024 season with a 2-2 draw against in-state rival Longwood on Saturday afternoon.

In the first 25 minutes of today's first half the match was set in a deadlock. Radford was able to get off three shots in that time frame, but the score would remain at 0-0. Longwood was finally able to breakthrough at the 35th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the second half.
In the second, the Highlanders were able to tie it back up after Akos Tajtyi was able to deliver a good ball to Cesar Rubio-Amaya who was able to hit a cheeky shot past the keeper in the 53rd minute to make it a 1-1 game. The duo would help the Highlanders take the lead in 59th as well after Tajtyi was able to capitalize on a great pass from Rubio-Amaya to make it a 2-1 game. However, the Lancers would respond at the 72nd minute to make it a 2-2 game. The Highlanders would continue to battle to find the goal that would put them ahead, but this one would remain 2-2 at the final whistle.

"I was really happy with how we played today. We stuck to our plan and scored 2 really nice goals. I am very proud of our team for sticking together and always playing hard throughout a tough season. We have played some really nice soccer throughout season and been so close so many times. The attitude and character of this group has been phenomenal.
