CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Buccaneers held Radford scoreless over the final 10 minutes of the game to complete a 14 point comeback Wednesday night in Charleston in a 58-57 final.

Coming off a two-game winning streak,
DaQuan Smith proved influential for the Highlanders clinching 15 points in the first half, scoring the first points of the game.
From there it became a back-and-forth game between Radford and Charleston Southern. Charleston Southern earned their first points from a 3-pointer, but Smith retaliated with a driving layup. By 16:28, the Highlanders found themselves down 4-8, however,
Justin Archer and
Bryan Antoine were not about to let that happen both connecting layups to make it a tie game, the first of many ties.
For the next seven minutes of play Radford went on a 14-4 run spearheaded by points from
D'Auntray Pierce earning three of those baskets. Ending the scoring drought, the Buccaneers were able to shorten the Highlanders' lead to one but crucial shots from the line by Smith and Antoine plus a layup from
Kenyon Giles put the team back up by seven, leading to a 12-6 run to end the half.
Justin Archer and
Josiah Harris played crucial roles on the defensive side with nine rebounds apiece. Additionally, Archer had nine points and three crucial blocks for the Highlanders. Pierce also pulled down five rebounds and shot 66.7% from the paint.
Giles and
Chandler Turner were Radford's key shooters in the second half. Giles started the scoring with a pull-up jumper and ended his night with 18 points and three assists. Turner found his way to seven points, all scored in the second half.
From there, the game was at a stand-still as neither team scored for three minutes. With less than a minute left, Buccaneers' A'lahn Sumler drove a layup to give Charleston Southern the lead. Charleston Southern tried to push their lead but were unsuccessful thanks to an Archer rebound. With two seconds left Smith pulled up for a three but was unable to clinch the win.
