Saporta Earns Big Victory in Home Match with BYU

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program fell 6-1 to BYU Friday morning but got a big win in singles from Tom Saporta who picked up a power win in straight sets.
In doubles play, the Cougars got the early 1-0 advantage with wins on courts one and two. On court three Evan Edwards and Dominik Wijntjes were up 4-3 before going unfinished.
The freshman Saporta highlighted singles play with his straight sets win on court two. Saporta had to dig deep for the win after a 6-2 first set win. In the second set, Saporta was down 5-6 before he was able to force the tiebreaker. Both he and his opponent traded points until Saporta pulled away for the 6-2, 7-6(5) victory.
The Highlanders have some time off before they return to the courts for conference play. On March 13th, Radford visits in-state rival for a 2 p.m. first serve.
