Abrams Earns Second Straight Top Court Singles Victory at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Radford women's tennis program fell to Davidson Saturday afternoon 6-1 but got another strong singles win from Julia Abrams on the top singles court.
In doubles play it was a tightly contested point between the Highlanders and Wildcats. Davidson got the edge taking court one, but the duo of Ameek Batth and Lexi Smolder got a huge tiebreaker win on court two 7-6(4). Davidson would get the early 1-0 lead, though, as Michaela Stephens and Brooke Murphy fought hard but came up just short 7-5 on court three.
In singles Abrams picked up top court singles wins in back-to-back days as the junior continues to impress. Abrams bounced back after an early set loss to win 0-6, 6-2, 6-0. Davidson would take courts two through six, however, for the 6-1 final score.
The Highlanders' next match features the team's Big South opener. Radford will travel south to face Charleston Southern on Friday, March 22nd for a 1 p.m. first serve.
