Women’s Tennis Swiftly Sweeps Salem on International Students Day

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis program picked up a swift 7-0 victory over Salem Monday afternoon in the team's inaugural international student's match.
In doubles play the Highlanders were dominant on the top two courts after taking court three by default. Lexi Smolder and Ameek Batth efficiently won on court two 6-0 to clinch the doubles advantage. The duo of Julia Abrams and Emily Brandow also won decisively 6-1 on court one.
In singles it was Rachel Ekanem who would finish first in a strong 6-0, 6-0 decision on court five. Michaela Stephens followed her with a similarly dominant performance on court two, winning 6-0, 6-1. For the match clincher, it was Smolder on court four who won with ease 6-1, 6-0.
Wrapping up the Highlanders' victories on the day were Abrams and Brandow. Abrams won her battle on court one 6-3, 6-3 while Brandow came out with a straight sets win 6-0, 6-0 on court three.
The Highlanders return to Big South action this upcoming Wednesday, March 27th at Longwood.
