Severin Highlights Tight Match at Presbyterian Through Trio of Tiebreakers

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program fell in a tight match Tuesday afternoon at Presbyterian 4-3 with senior Guilherme Severin highlighting the match with a trio of tiebreakers that he came out on top of on court one.

In doubles play the reigning Big South champs Blue Hose would gain the crucial 1-0 advantage with wins on courts one and three. On court two, the duo of Robert Hagen and Filippo Marangoni were tied 5-5 before going unfinished.

In singles it was a tight battle throughout as Radford would take three of six singles courts. Evan Edwards was the first to come out victorious for Radford as he won decisively 6-3, 6-4 on court six. Hagen was next as he came back in a big way to win 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(11). Severin highlighted the match on the top flight as he battled through three tiebreakers to win 6(5)-7, 7-6(4), 1-0(5).

The Highlanders will host Senior Day in their next match this Thursday, April 4th against South Carolina State. Radford will honor seniors Guilherme Severin and Charles Courteau with a pre-game ceremony about 10 minutes before the scheduled 2 p.m. match start time.
