PLAY BY PLAY
GAME ONE - With Temple coming off a victory in the opener of the Cherry & White Challenge, Radford got it's first taste of the season. Both teams traded points through the early portions of the first set as Sydney Mundkowsky and Rylee Sloss recorded their first kills of the day.

The two squads were tied up at 11-11 before the Owls went on a 7-0 run that proved to be too much as they would go on to take the opening set. Radford again was competitive coming out the gates for the second set as neither team would gain more than a two-point advantage until Temple went up 11-8.

Already up 11-8, the Owls were in the midst of another 7-0 run that would push their lead to 16-8. Temple would lead by as much as 22-13 until the Highlanders got their first solid run of the afternoon. Radford would go on a 7-2 run to try and catch back up, but Temple held on to take the second set 25-20.

The third set featured no huge runs by either side as the two teams were locked together. Tied up at 20-20, Temple earned two straight points to gain the advantage that would hold in the eventual 25-23 final for the third set finishing the match in a 3-0 final in the Owls' favor.

GAME TWO – The Highlanders and Knights locked into a duel throughout the final Friday match of the Cherry & White Challenge with each set ending with thin margins. Radford was able to get out ahead in the match taking the first set 25-23 with four straight points after trailing 23-21.

In set two, the Knights were able to respond to even things back up at one-all. Radford did have a late comeback attempt once again trailing 23-17 at one point before the set ended at 25-23. Not backing down, Radford responded right back by taking the third set 25-22 despite trailing early.

The Highlanders started slow in the fourth set but battled back to keep things close going into the later points. Radford led 23-22 but FDU scored back-to-back points to reverse script trying to force a tiebreaker. Both teams traded points until FDU was able to pull away 27-25 and force that tiebreaker fifth set.

The Knights kept the momentum, building a lead in the fifth set that proved to be enough. The Highlanders, competing in their eighth total set in just the span of a few hours, came up just short in a 15-12 final.
